The Student Government Legislative Branch is the General Assembly, whose purpose is to represent the views, ideas, and concerns of the roughly 30,000 undergraduate students at Virginia Tech.

Meetings are on Tuesdays in Commonwealth Ballroom B (Squires Student Center) at 7:00 PM during the Fall and Spring semesters. Meetings are open to the public and undergraduate student constituents have an opportunity to address their representatives during the Public Forum section of the meeting.

The Chair of the General Assembly (GA) is elected from within the General Assembly and presides over general meetings, heads the Legislative Branch, assigns members to committees. They are also in chargeĀ of setting meeting agendas and times.

The Vice-Chair of the General Assembly is elected from within the General Assembly. They preside over general meetings and assistĀ the Chair when needed. The Vice-Chair shall also assume the position of the Chair in the event that the position is vacated, in addition to other powers and responsibilities outlined in the Bylaws.
